Our floating accommodation barge, Bibby Bergen has been awarded a contract until mid-October with Aibel AS which will see the barge join Bibby Challenge in Haugesund, Norway supporting the workforce involved in the Johann Sverdrup project where Aibel will be fabricating topsides for Statoil. Having worked with Aibel on numerous occasions in the past, Bibby Maritime are delighted to have a familiar, valued client chartering another of our accommodation barges.
"It's encouraging to see two of our barges working together for Aibel. Since it was announced in early 2016 that Bibby Challenge would be heading to Haugesund in Norway to accommodate workers we had been hearing that it had been well received by those staying on board. With the increased demand for more accommodation for those working on the project and Bibby Challenge reaching full capacity, it seemed the natural solution for Bibby Bergen to join Bibby Challenge in giving the workers a comfortable and welcoming solution." explained Carl McLaughlin, Commercial Director.
Bibby Bergen is a 180 en-suite bedroom barge with a Norwegian land-camp design. She has modern furnishings and entertainment spaces including include a fully furnished kitchen and restaurant, relaxation rooms and laundry facilities. Along with the facilities provided on-board, Bibby Bergen boasts a wealth of experience in operating around Scandinavia.
Aibel have week-by-week extension options available to them should their requirements grow in scope and if activated would see Bergen remain in Haugesund through to November 2017.
